Old City Infrastructure Development: Metro Expansion in Hyderabad

The Rs 500 crore Hyderabad Old City metro project is part of the Telangana budget that was presented to the Assembly today.
Among all the proposals, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been given a budget of Rs 3,065 crore, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Rs 500 crore, Metro Water Works Rs 3,385 crore, and the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Rs 200 crore.
The Old City metro project in Hyderabad has long been demanded. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Old City metro line between MGBS and Falaknuma. The 5.5 km section of the green line from JBS to Falaknuma is known as Corridor II.
Around 1,100 properties will be impacted by road widening at the locations of the metro rail stations, according to HMRL MD NVS Reddy. The project's estimated cost, which includes utility relocation and road widening, is Rs 2,000 crore.
The metro train route will stop at the Falaknuma Metro Rail Station after passing through the following areas: Darulshifa, Purani Haveli, Etebarchowk, Alijakotla, Mir Momin Daira, Haribowli, Shalibanda, Shamsheergunj, and Aliabad. The four halt stations are Shalibanda, Falaknuma, Charminar, and Salarjung Museum.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka introduced the first full budget of a Congress-led government in Telangana since the state's founding in the state assembly today. After assuming office in December of last year, the Congress government implemented a vote-on-account in February. The Minorities Welfare Department has been allotted Rs 3,003 crore in the budget, among other things. The budget submitted a budgetary proposal today to support the Hyderabad Old City metro project.
